Poplin

A tightly woven plain-weave fabric (usually a light weight cotton) characterized by a corded surface. A durable fabric, poplin is usually made of cotton but can also be silk, wool or synthetic blends. It does not wrinkle much and is popular for making shirts, dresses.

Description

  • It is a fine warp yarn woven with a thicker weft yarn and so it is produced as a strong material but soft to touch.
  • Poplin can also be made with fibers such as wool, cotton, silk, rayon, polyester or a mixture of these.
  • Poplin fabric is a special material to make shirts. Shirts made from this material are easy to iron and do not wrinkle easily.
  • It can also be made stretchy if it is woven with spandex.
